Ana Cabrera, born in Cuba, was in the Class of 1970 and among the first women to graduate after the Providence College accepted women. She was editor of Veritas, the yearbook of Providence College (1970).
In 1975, Ana became was the first person of Hispanic heritage and first Latina to work in mainstream television in Rhode Island.
Angel Taveras is an attorney and in 2011 made Rhode Island Latino history when he became the first Latino mayor in Rhode Island. Taveras also became the third elected and fourth serving Dominican-American mayor in the United States.
