Welcome | Bienvenidos

The Rhode Island Latino Community Archive is the official home for preserving and sharing the stories, memories, and cultural heritage of Latinos in Rhode Island. While traces of Latino history could be found in local archives before 1991, there was no dedicated or comprehensive effort to document our community’s presence. This collection was created to change that—bringing forward the voices, photographs, and materials that had long gone unrecognized.

As the first and most comprehensive community-based Latino archive in the state, it gathers personal histories, family photographs, documents, and artifacts that reflect the experiences of Spanish-speaking communities across Rhode Island. The physical archives are housed in Central Falls, with digital access available through this website.

This is a living community archive — and you are part of it.

We invite you to contribute your story, upload photos or documents, or share items that help preserve the legacy of Latino life in Rhode Island. Every contribution, large or small, helps ensure that our history is seen, valued, and remembered.
